guy guys, i recently set up my new showcase cabinet, with a mame pc running into a 27" CRT tv via component video, as well as a playstation 2 for light gun games. seeing how the guncon 2 guns are usb, i figured it might be worth trying to get them working in mame. i have read through several threads on the subject, but some things are a little vague.
i see that there are several drivers available, mainly wingun and guncon2pc. from what i have read, guncon2pc is a better choice. however in their website, it states that all guncon2 compatible guns are support, except the official sony guncon 2 guns. i am assuming they mean the namco guns that came with time crisis 2/3, which happen to be the guns i have. is there any way to get these guns to work, or would i have to buy 3rd party knock offs? if that is teh case, i'm going to stop right there.
also, how do the light gun games perform under mame? are they worth playing? or should i just stick with the games i have for my ps2 (Time crisis 2, Time Crisis 3, crisis zone, vampire night, and endgame)
i am running mame .124 in windows xp, ona p4 3.0ghz with 4gb of ram if that makes a difference.

I have been unable to get any drivers I can find working for my guncom2 under windows 7 64bit. I would be interested if anyone else can?

Namco guns have a phenomenon called "rolling x" which isn't something guncon2pc can deal with. The only driver I have found that works with those guns (which are what I use) are the wingun drivers. The main down side to these drivers is that it doesn't create a different HID for each gun, so you can't use it as a mouse or keep the cross hairs on. It will work, but I've only gotten it to work with either MAME 0.117 and earlier or a custom compiled version of something more modern with RAW inputs turned off. I've heard that isn't needed at this point, but I haven't tried.
Oh, I use WinXP x86, not x64.
