Title: Any mustang drivers? Just got mine today!
Post by: Pongo on August 28, 2010, 08:56:15 pm
Just have to share,... been waiting for this for a good while now and I finally got it today.

It comes complete with a "happy pedal" Just push it down and it's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. (Especially in second gear, going down a freeway entrance ramp)

Now if I can only get these Priuses out of the way!

Nice car, congratulations. Love the color! I've only read stuff about them, but seems like you bought at the right time too. The "new" 5.0 is killer. The last car I owned was an 87 5 liter LX.

Its been all pickup trucks and vans after that since I've always had dirt bikes and now hauling house stuff and arcade games. I often miss having a car just for fun.

My first car was a 68 Mustang.  Still love those cars above everything else.

Congrats!   :applaud:

My first V8 was a Mustang. One of those undesirable models, 78? Something like that. 302 with a TWO barrel carb  :lol

Still, a lot of fun for just over a grand  :)

Mustang Drivers?  What OS you running, what does it say when you try to do an auto-search using Windows?

Mine used CAFIB (cheap auto for impoverished backpacker)

A pretty flakey OS, it tried to reboot while I was driving across the Golden Gate Bridge  ;D

Loving it so far,... too bad I've been putting in all sorts of overtime this weekend. I've barely had a chance to drive it.

pinballwizard79 - so you are the one ruining all my fun? :) On the upside, when I don't get to accelerate hard my gas mileage goes up to almost 16 mpg! Yikes!

Planning on driving this year round, and since I live in Minnesota that means snow. Can't say I'm looking forward to that, but I'll make it work.

heh,... figured you might be, but sometimes you can never tell in a typed message. And those dang things are showing up everywhere. I just ended up behind another one as I was coming back from lunch. I don't mind people that do the speed limit, or at least close, but these people seem to be using pedal power or something!

Of course, I'm going to the other end of the spectrum here as far as HP goes, but I KNOW they can go better than what they are!

Congrats!
I've owned several Mustangs over the years.  My previous was a 2003 GT with pretty much the same color as yours (true blue).  I was feeling that it might be time for a change, and was thinking of trading it in for something else.  While I was looking for something I might like I found a car at a dealership just 10 minutes from my house that I fell in love with:

I can't believe I actually own a genuine Shelby Mustang!  I went from wanting to get away from Mustangs for a while, to being back in love with one!  I totally know that feeling you get when you press that pedal!

I suspect the feeling you get and the feeling I used to get are somewhat different :duckhunt

Wow, I had the  '77 "Fastback" 302 2bll auto. A true piece of crap, but it was my baby in high school. I remember the AM Philco and 1 speaker in the middle of the dash. One poor girl lost her virginity in that pile of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. I remember having to carry some of that radiator powder in the glove box so I could patch it up whever I bottomed out. I bet I pushed that car at least a mile (overall, not at once).

Does your Mustang have the "new" 5.0L?  I am not sure if they have them for sale yet.

Yup. If you check the pic you can see the badge on the side. It's quite an increase over last years GT (100 hp increase)

The V6 this year makes almost as much hp as last years V8 GT

Ahh memories... of when I was young, single, and had not a care in the world... and a Mustang.

Congrats on the purchase, dude. Just don't ---fudgesicle--- it up by crashing it into a brick wall like I did.

Heh,... that's the best part. I'm old enough to appreciate it, married with 3 kids. I still can't believe I talked my wife into letting me get this car. Kinda feels like I got away with something!

And a big HELL NO to this being my son's first car in 8 years!

This looks a lot like my first (and only) Mustang, which was my second car.

Subtract the black stripe on the hood, the 5.0 on the side, and the Hellas, and that would be mine.  All 4 cylinders of her.  Seriously, I loved that car, and would happily buy the same car again...  Same 4 cylinders, same blue vinyl seats, same no AC.

I actually walked in to the dealership, and the car was there for $5,000.  I was about 19 at the time, and couldn't afford to buy it with the job I had.  The Salesman walked over, said, "if you buy the car from me - today - I'll give it to you for $2,000."  My Dad and I were floored.  There MUST have been something wrong.  We took it around the block, and it drove strong.  The mileage was pretty low, somewhere around 30,000Kms.  We didn't have the time to take it to my Dad's friend, who was a mechanic, so we signed up then and there.  The Salesman said he had to get it cleaned up and ready, and that I could come back the next day.

My Dad and I went back to the Dealership with our paperwork to pick up the car, and found that it was NOT cleaned up.  The Sales MANAGER came out, and said, "Sorry 'bout this, but I can't sell you the car at the price the Sales Guy quoted."  He went on, quite confident with himself about his story, and continued, "He quit on my yesterday night, and sold a BUNCH of cars lower than my cost."  Overall, he was giving me the "used car salesman" vibe, all slick and smarmy.  I was NOT impressed.

I looked him right in the eye, and said, "I have THIS PIECE OF PAPER which says otherwise.  It's a bill of sale, and it's signed.  I've left my deposit, and I'm here to pick up my car."

He sighed, knew he couldn't do anything about it, and got MY CAR ready for me.  My Dad was proud, as was I.

I own a 2003 Kio Rio RS in blue, and a 1993 Dodge Dakota in black, green, teal, brown and red [seriously, this is a factory paint job]. Yup, my cars are ugly pieces of junk.

I am jealous.
