Title: Win98 MAME splash screen?
Post by: kgibbons on August 08, 2003, 01:22:11 am
Hello all,

I'm sure this has probably been brought up numerous times before, but searching the board didn't produce any results.  So I'll ask anyway :)

For those that are using Win98 systems for their dedicated mame cabinets, what are you doing about the "splash" startup and shutdown screens?

I know you can disable the splash screen altogether, which is pretty simple.  But the shutdown screen will always be there.

Now going back to my tinkering around with Win95 days, I remembered that you could change the startup and shutdown splash screen to whatever you wanted, but creating a 320x400 256 color bitmap file, and placing it in the correct directory.

I'm no graphics guy by any means, so I was wondering if anybody has done this for their MAME machines, and cares to share?

Here's a good newsgroup post telling exactly how to go about changing the screens:

Any help, as always is greatly appreciated!  :)

Awesome... I figured this had to be already done somewhere, I just didn't know where :)

Many thanks!
