Title: Can Novus polish be used on polyurethane?

I've got a finished piece of wood I want to make even smoother.  Will it work?

Try it on a hidden area. You want to cut some texture down? You may have best results with a random orbital buffer.

I've always used multiple coats of poly and then ultra fine steel wool.

Is the steel wool the last step or do you always put one last coat of poly on top?

Is the desired result to also have a less glossy finish? That's typical of using #0000 steel wool towards the end of the process.

If you want ridiculously flat, deep, high gloss finish, you might find this article helpful*:

*I kind of find that to be overkill,though... I'm always happy with the look of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal padded on over several thin coats (as a top coat for their Seal-A-Cell).
