Title: Track ball or joystick?
Post by: KuraiDori on August 27, 2010, 12:25:57 pm
Hello,

I'm new to this site and building arcade games in general. I was hoping that some one could answer a question for me or point me in the right direction to find the answer.

I have a Cabal jamma board that I'm going to put into a cabinet. This game came in two versions, trackball and joy stick. How can I tell which version I have.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a little info from KLOV:
The joystick version is JAMMA (not sure about trackball version) and had a small module that fitted into a socket to allow the use of a joystick. Possibly the two versions are interchangeable by the use of this module. This game seems to have been produced in the early days of the JAMMA standard, and in order to get the third button, TAD used the TEST and SERVICE connectors to act as the inputs. Often there will be a wire soldered from these points to the now standard button 3 contact on the JAMMA edge connector.
