Title: WG D9800 Geometry Problem
Post by: Jsilva on August 27, 2010, 07:10:42 am
Hi,

So this is my first arcade project, it has been fun even with a few head aches along the way.
Now as the title says i got a WG D9800 that is connected to an arcade vga 2 pcie, i know
geometry in crt's is far from perfect and i can live perfectly with some minor imperfection here
and there, but this problem is very distracting, as you can see in the picture the right bottom
is like squashed up (the blue line was made by me as a reference so i could bether explain the
problem) the top of the image is perfectly straight as is the bottom left till about half of the screen
then it starts going up, this is across all resolutions and even if i resize/repostion the screen there
is no change, image quality is otherwise great.
So what can this be? Yoke problem? Something Magnetised (btw degauss doens't do anything) ?

doublecheck pincushion/trapezoid settings .
the lower right side of image appears to be off the same as the lower left

a crosshatch pattern is best for alignments  ;)

thx for the reply, i already checked those settings, they do nothing in regards to this problem
they are very handy to solve the slight barrel distortions on the sides of the image tho.
As for the left side being off same as right it seems so but that is because when taking the
picture camera was a bit off, the image would have too be rotated a bit counter clockwise
to match what is really happening, just think that the left bottom is pararel with the blue line,
the problem on the right is even worse than it shows on the image.
I will try to take a bether picture with a cross pattern to bether show what i mean.
