I can help save you some time and direct you to MicroCenter, where you buy an adapter for $16. Maybe even $12 if they are on sale again. PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse to a single USB port.

Henk,
I don't have the circuit diagram you requested but you may want to try this item on for size.

http://www.mic-innovations.com/micro_inv/large_image_pages/usb630a.htm

It allows you to hook up both a PS2 mouse & a PS2 keyboard via USB.
I found this while my wife & I were out shopping for cheep cheep bookshelves for her classroom over at BigLots closeout store.
For ten bucks it was worth a try (don't know how much they sell for retail though).
I can tell you that the mouse functionality is great in mame.
In fact, this is what I have my Imperial 3" PS2 trackball hooked up thru for hot swapablilty.
The keyboard function however is kind of screwey in Mame but I don't know why.
It works great for all ms office & other windoze applications but in Mame it seems like the keys don't respond well.
It did the same thing on my laptop as it did on the desktop so it wasn't the machine.
Mabey I'm doing something wrong??? Idunno...
But a simple fix would be to hook your regular use keyboard thru this adapter & hook up your mame controls directly to the keyboard port on your motherboard.
Everything would function properly that way.
...and you wouldn't have to worry about getting those tough migranes from inhaling soldering fumes.
Just a thought.
 ;)
