Title: mame keeps changing my button setup?

i have mame running fine but with one problem every time mame starts it for some reason changes my joystick button 16 to 15 and that is set to my start button

button 16? I dont understand

i am using a gp-wiz which is a gamepad and maps the button as joystick button 1, 2, 3, etc....

Make your default.cfg file read only and see if it still changes.

i was playing with the default.cfg file and found the for some reason if its joycode 16 or under it subtracts one. so if it is 15 in the cfg it will be 14 in mame and for some reason it doesn't do the same with 17?

That is because mame starts numbering buttons at 0 instead of 1

its just that only button 16 changes to 15 and every other button stays the same

Is this a new problem or is this a first time configuration type issue?  If it is a new problem, what did you change recently?

delete all of MAME files, except roms of course, and reinstall it with a fresh copy.  Go into MAME and hit Tab and reprogram your inputs with your CP.  Escape out of MAME and go back into it and see if it changed again..

sorry i figured out the problem it was with mame and how it view the gamepads buttons and i just ended up rewiring to another input.
