Title: got my marquee and lexan ready...wondering how to mount
Post by: hulkster on August 07, 2003, 02:54:56 pm
i have a retainer and stuff, what im wondering is how is everybody keeping the marquee and lexan together.  ive heard of the lexan marquee sandwich but im not sure if thats the best option for me.  is it bad to glue the front of the marquee onto the lexan?  or should i just tape the corners or something?  help!

Hey I got your email.  I'm glad you like the marquee  ;D

Check out this photo, it will give you a good idea on how to mount using the lexan and retainer:

The photo was done by a fellow message board memeber and it explains the mounting process very well.  You could also check out my FAQ: http://www.emdkay.net/faq.html#marquees (http://www.emdkay.net/faq.html#marquees)

Another person took some nice pictures showing how he mounted his Emdkay marquee, check out his site:

If you ever decide to change your marquee, you probably shouldn't glue the marquee to the front.  Also, you would be able to see residue of the glue on the graphic.  Sandwiching the marquee between the lexan is the best method if you have the materials, which you do.

Good luck!

well here it is!  looks great....a little light coming out the side, but that was my fault for not giving the right measurements ;D  i can just put some black paper behind it or something.

anyway, just wanted to give yet ANOTHER praise to emdkay.net!  great quality...better than i could have imagined.  its really cool when you get your marquee in the mail and open it and say "wow! thats what i wanted!"  so there you go, sweet marquee, good price.....titties.

alright, now that my marquee is up and lit....as you can see, the colors look faded when the light is on.  ive heard about blacklights...will that make the colors look better?  or do i need to put something behind the marquee for the colors to stand out more?

Colors faded?  How bright is the bulb behind the marquee?  Blacklights look great behind the marquees, you may want to try one to see which you prefer.

well the colors arent "faded" the marquee looks great, but just when i turn on the light, it looks like the light is making them faded....so a blacklight will make the blues, bluer...etc.?

How strong is the bulb?  How close is it to the marquee?  Maybe you would prefer a blacklight - it will give it a better glow instead of the brightness of florescent bulbs.

A blacklight and fixture can be found around $10-15.  Try changing your bulb location, and wattage.  I don't know the details of your setup.
