I was browsing Bob Roberts website, and noticed an interesting control panel that looks like it has a spinner on it.
It is listed on http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/fm.html (http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/fm.html) as "Control Panel w Lit Buttons & Controller".
I just bought a spinner panel, but I thought I might give someone a heads up about this one.

That is an Omega Race panel.
-
Seems to be an odd looking spinner there...
-
mmmmm, lighted buttons
-
I believe that this is a rotary switch & not a spinner.
It uses a pot & not an opti.
I could be wrong...
???

Per KLOV...
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=O&game_id=8920
....Control Panel Layout: Single Player
Controls:
Rotary: Optical
Buttons: 2...

KLoV has plenty of incorrect entries, though.. I think he was basing his guess on the fact that the panel's 'spinner' doesn't look much like a spinner ???
I don't know either way, I almost had an OR but passed due to price :/
-
I thought only optics used encoder wheels...
Here's another quote from KLOV.com (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=O&game_id=8920) on that game...
"An encoder wheel controller makes the player's ship highly maneuverable."
-
That's true...... I forget that some info is based on educated guess not always fact. sorry.
-
btw, I think it runs on 5k pots instead of optics... So more like a 1d joystick then a spinner. (not free spinning)
But I could be wrong...
-
To make this even wierder, my understanding was that the coctails used pots and the stand-ups used optical spinners...
