Title: Idea for iPod/Internet radio "Jukebox"
Post by: BobbyG66 on August 17, 2010, 01:09:08 pm
I have this idea, tell me if I'm crazy or it sux.

I have a older basic PC lying around.
It has a 40 gig drive and not looking to store music on it.

I want to set up a small standing unit my kids or friends can plug in their iPod and listen to their music.
I also want to be able to tune into some internet radio stations.
I don't like iTunes.

I was also thinking about putting a subwoofer in the box and speakers in the ceiling.

Does this sound like a good idea?
Any frontends I could use to list favorite sites or stations?

Thanks

I think you'd spend as much money on decent PC speakers as you would on an after-market iPod docking station.
What do you want the PC to do that the docking station can't? (Just trying to understand your requirements).

I'm building a dedicated Juke, that can also play from an iPod (but I have a 1tb HDD (almost full of MP3s) and I also play & burn CDs from it.
Is that what you had in mind?

Did you want to build a Cab?

MPTech,

I have an arcade cab, pool table, dart board and a PC in the room.
I was thinking more like a stand up kiosk that would play iPods and internet radio.
Maybe surf the web to play YouTube videos.
Kind of like a multimedia station.
Any front ends handle this?

Maybe I should just get a Terabyte drive and also have the tunes loaded on it as well.

Thanks
