Title: Hanatrex monitor power pinout
Post by: Stobe on August 15, 2010, 06:14:26 pm
Hello,

I'm about to re-wire a Hanatrex (model unknow as of yet, cant see any model number markings yet) monitor to a jamma harness.  I see two wire bundles going to the monitor.  One being the video connection, and the other is a 4 pin connector with red/yellow/orange and brown wires.  I can figure out the RGB/Sync going to the jamma harness.  But the power bundle is going to a 18th century looking Iso-transformer that I can't quite decipher the output markings.

Does anyone know if that color scheme (for the power bundle) is a standard pinout?  I know a model number and picture might help, but I just can't get to it yet.  If it helps, it looks fairly old, and is a 19" standard res.

Thanks for any help.

must be in the u.k then, seperate 128vac and 220vac on those wires

ok, so if that is the correct schematic (and I still haven't found the model number on the chasis, but I will before I do anything), then I'd just need to connect the 2 wires (pins 1 and 2) that correspond to the 128V to the output of the iso transformer?  Then should I also ground the chasis with a seperate wire (doesn't seem to have a ground wire right now)

Thanks,
Stobe

does not really require an earth to the chassis, you can add one if you wish
make sure you get 128vac and 230vac round the correct way on the power input plug or it will blow

oh, sure.  No pressure!

well here is any easy way to do it
the 230ac is only used for the degauss circuit so in theory you only need to connect up the 128vac to run the monitor

That's the plan.

To clear it up, I'm in the US, so that's all I have readily available :)

Here are some photos.  I apologize for their quality, the monitor is still mounted in a small cabinet.  I noticed the designator "DE2" on the board, if that helps.  In the one picture you can see the two din connectors, the 4-pin one being the one in question (since it appeared there were all four connections made to the above referenced Iso-Xfmr)

ok thats a mtc900 chassis
u.s spec would not  use 230ac as you don't have it-you will need a iso transformer though

i am taking a guess but i would imagine 120vac is used for the degauss circuit also

Ok, I think I have deciphered the old isolation transformer as best as I can.  It looks like the 220vac outputs from the transformer were feeding the marquee light (which is labeled 220V), and it was also running to the monitor (on the correct 220V input, according to the schematic).

I can vouch for the fact that this machine was working with a good picture when I picked it up.  And it was definitely only plugged into 120V.  I don't however remember if the marquee light was functional.

So, the final question is:  should I be ok by using a new iso (all 120V), and replacing the floro light with a 120V light, and feeding the monitor only the 120V inputs?

Thanks so much for all the help so far!

run the monitor from the iso transformer
run your power supply and marquee light direct from the mains input
