I just picked up a Sony PVM2530 Monitor for a cool Jackson. Then I got it home and started to research it. This is what I found.
Apparently its a good candidate monitor. It has multiple connector, BNC, S-Vid, a cmptr 25 pin D-sub, and something called a VTR.
Mostly, the discussions seem to be about the 25pin D-sub connector and how to use that. To me, the gist seems to involve using a hacked cable combined with a few wirering theories, which should allow this monitor to work. But the post never went on to say if the proposed solutions worked or not.
Does or did anybody figure out a definitive solution? Or can anyone help me carry-on this conversation and maybe find/figure a solution.

VTR is a video tape recorder before VCR. Here is a link that breaks out the 25 pin cable to more common RCA connections.

I know this seems dumb, but....
I use this break-out cable. Plug the 25pin into the Sony, the the BNC's into a video card with BNC? So, I need to find a vid card with BNC connection?
Do I got that right?

No that adapter breaks out the connections to RCA. It did not give info on what inputs are provided so it is a guess at that point. The easiest connection would be to the video and LR audio. That is regular composite video but you would need a single RCA to BNC adapter to input the video. I have not seen a video card with BNC outputs for years (about 12 or more)
Or even easier switch the VTR to input and use the s video and audio connections.

I'm not sure what pins that DB25 to BNC connector is hooked up to. It probably wasn't designed with the CMPTR port in mind.
Ummon has successfully built the hacked cable and used it with these monitors with beautiful results.
I suggest you buy one each of these:

and of course some good wire.
With these four parts and the pinouts of each port you should easily be able to construct a cable that will allow RGB video to be passed over the CMPTR port.
If the above parts are too pricey try searching ebay or around the net for equivalent ones. Just search for DB15HD and DB25 breakout boards.

or you can try solding directly to a connector, which would be very cheap, and would work fine if you are good at that sort of thing.

Don't settle for composite or S-video. The difference in those and RGB is night and day. You'll be glad you made the effort.

No. VGA needs a DB15.
