Not sure if anyone else saw this awesome craigslist find....
Ultra Rare Classic Pacman Arcade Game - $25000 (http://richmond.craigslist.org/vgm/1870128995.html)
Quote for sake of craigslist ad expiring
Whats for sale:
We have a real arcade classic for sale. This is a 1980's upright dedicated Pacman arcade game. The game is complete and in good working condition. This machine is 30+ years old. This is not the rereleased version from the 2000's. This game is in good cosmetic condition but does have some ware for its age. The original cabinet is conplete with all side art, marquee, control overlays, montior, glass, joy stick, buttons, $.25 coin slots, jamma harness, power supply and pacman printed circuit board (pcb). ALL PARTS ARE ORIGINAL 1980s NAMCO. This is a rare collectors item. This Pacman game was on location in an exhibition hall in a rural part of North Carolina and had less than 20 plays per week. It has been kept in doors in a climate controlled facility. Pacman is the corner stone of all arcades and would be a perfect addition to your home arcade. Purchase price includes delevery within 50 miles of Richmond VA. Addition mileage will be charged $.50 per mile round trip. We have set the price for this rare find at $25,000 but if you would like to make us an offer no reasonable offer will be refused.
Who we are:
My partners and I have been in the arcade business for a combined 62 years of experience. We are route and family entertainment center operators. Our only business is the arcade business. We are dedicated to providing quality games for home and business use.
I didn't know the original namco games came complete with a Jamma Harness?? I guess that's what makes this so "Ultra Rare"?? :laugh2:
I would definitely buy this, but I'm 51 miles away from Richmond, and I can't afford the extra $.50 per mile
-
I think they might have been smoking some Ultra Rare Crack on their family entertainment route. :laugh2:

Oh wow... That's only a couple hours away from me... Having a very difficult time not jumping into the truck right now to go snatch that up before someone else does...
(62 years of arcade experience, and Pac-Man is JAMMA. Ha!)

I'm going to list one for $24,999 with FREE delivery to anywhere in the US!

That arcade game will pay for itself.
Just think- you only need people to play it 100,000 times and that alone will cover the cost of buying it!

Sweet, you just saved me a 4-hour round trip. What's your paypal?
-
20 plays a week, 52 weeks a year, 30 years... 31,000+ plays?
I thought MIDWAY made the first US Pacman cabs?
-
Silly Malenko. We are all but mere amateurs in the presence of the 62 year veterans.

Hey good idea, let's play dontevenreply: BYOAC edition.
Dear sirs,
I just happened across your Pacman arcade game on craigslist and I hope I am not too late, as I am very interested in this rare item!
To be honest, your asking price seems a bit high to me... I am thinking more in the range of $20,000 tops, though of course I could possibly be swayed a bit higher if this happens to be a particularly pristine paragon of the early arcade genre! I would also be interested in a possible trade + cash arrangement, since I have some rare items in my collection, but nothing I wouldn't be willing to part with for something as rare as an all-original Pacman! Would you be able to provide some photos to show the condition of the game? I would be especially interested in the artwork, as well as interior shots showing the condition of the JAMMA harness and monitor. I assume the game has the original vector monitor?
Thanks!

intriguing... :D
-
Nahn. that's a typo.
You should be reading 250.00$ instead of 25000$.
-
he has $25,000
-
well, at 25.00$, I take it any time. lol.
he did mention "make us an offer no reasonable offer will be refused"
me thinking that 25000 is no reasonable offer... someone must offer then something more reasonable.
-
Hey the guy selling that pacman is in the business, so he must be correct on what its worth.
remember that him and his 61 partners have a combined 62 years in the arcade business. :lol
-
Heh heh, I'm never quite sure if these people are mentally ill or if they're just thinking they can catch some rich sucker with more money than brains. Like I've seen people on ebay selling records that are supposedly an "ultra rare first pressing!!!" with a starting bid of $5000 and it's something that I know is actually fairly common and is worth maybe $50 tops.
I suppose these kinds of things only have to work every now and then and they can make a ton of money - like some of those phone calls you get that basically scream "SCAM" and you wonder how anybody could possibly fall for it. But if they make a few thousand calls in a month, odds are, they reel in a sucker or two and make it all worthwhile.
Having said all that, it's really hard to imagine anyone being interested enough to buy this, but not interested enough to know that $25k for this is completely absurd. :dizzy:
-
Is that the most ever made cabinet in history? 100000+ made? It's rare to call that rare :applaud:
-
I think I'm gonna buy it. I could strip it out and make an awesome MAME machine out of it. >:D

Yeah buy it and then slap on a 4 ft x 2 ft 4 player control panel. That would be sweet :applaud:
-
AND SOME CUP HOLDERS!!!
-
Think I'll paint it too, and get a cool marquee for it.
-
Do away with the awkward "Joystick" controller aswell and wire an N64 control pad into it. Use the panel for cup holders and an iphone dock.
-
Don't paint it black, that's been done before.
What you need to do is put up that black and grey marble contact paper. Looks awesome, and it's cheap!
Also I want to see 4 steering wheels on the front of the control panel for some racing fun!

And then you could have a place to store dead hookers (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=104817.msg1109265#msg1109265) or George Michael (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=104817.msg1109241#msg1109241).

Grynhnd! That was great, way to bring the joke full circle. The funny thing is that I WAS drinking something when I read that and I almost choked! :laugh2: Well played good sir. :applaud:
-
He replied back to my inquiry saying: "Thanks for your interest but the game has been sold".

Yeah, me too. That's no fun. I guess my lowball offer of $20K turned him off. Now what am I supposed to do with all these dead hookers?
-
The best part is he didn't even post a pick of his $25,000 ultra rare pacman game.
-
Well whatever you do, dont put them in your trunk. I tried that before I thought of the awesome idea to put them into the cab and I STILL cant get the smell out. Its worse than cat pee!!!

And.... Let's all have a moment of silence for the dead hooker joke. It was funny while it lasted. :'(
;D
-
Hmmm... I can hear taps being played in the distance... Its as dead as the hookers in my cab!!!
hahaha I had to do it once last time, seriously I wont do it again. Dead and buried.
-
No doubt he said it was sold Im waiting for a reply on how much he got for it!
-
Judging by how fast it sold, I think he got above his asking price.
-
Yeah, I sold my house and bought it. Drove 1000 miles, and now I'm living in it. It's kinda cramped, what with the dead hooker in here and all.
On the plus side, I get a quarter in ---my bottom--- every few minutes.
-
"When you came pulling in here, did you notice a sign out in front of my arcade cabinet that said Dead Hooker Storage?"
"Jimmie, you know I ain't seen no..."
"DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUT IN FRONT OF MY ARCADE CABINET THAT SAID DEAD HOOKER STORAGE??"

OOOOO, OOOOOO, I know this one! It's "Pulp Pacman", right?
-
We're cool if Bonnie likes to play Pac Man.
-
Hey you know what the funniest thing about Japan is, it's the little differences. Like in Japan, you can go into an arcade and play Pacman, but they don't call it Pacman. They call it Puckman.
Ha! I'm lame! But we're referencing one of my all time favorite movies here so I had to say something! :P :lol
