Title: Way to remove the ROM nag screen?
Post by: Rick on August 11, 2010, 03:53:30 pm
When I play any game on MAMEUI 0.139 through Maximus Arcade (thought I'd mention both, although I figure the issue is with one of them) I receive a nag screen confirming the legality of playing said game.  Basically, it says, "Key in OK or use your joystick to go left then right" and sometimes, it also confirms video and/or audio issues, with another "OK/leftyrighty" screen.  Is there any way of turning these off?  It's a major bummer to have them there.

Thanks, in advance!

Basically you need to compile a new version of mame, it looks complex but isnt really

Just follow the steps carefully

This has the added advantage of saving hiscores for lots of games as well as removing the nag screens

Just wanted to pop back in here and confirm that everything worked perfectly.

I downloaded the .TXT file for MAME 0.139 from the link, renamed it to .DIFF, downloaded the Headsoft MAME Compiler program, applied the DIFF Update, compiled my own version of MAME, ran it with -cc to configure the MAME.INI file, and finally edited the MAME.INI file to add the three lines required to remove the nag screens.

Yes, it's a run-on sentence, but it makes the point.  It was easy, and I thank you for the help!
