Its a lil more pricey than Jack and Jim, but it goes down soooooo smooth, I have traveled all of the country and the world and I was in Ireland in the airport and didnt want any jet lag so i tried to find some sleeping pills, which they didnt sell at the airport, but they have a duty free liqour store in the airport so I asked what is best thing that they sell, and they said oh we have this jameson, so I took it on the plane and went to sleep for several hours...  since then it has been my favorite whiskey.  10/10 please get a bottle if you have 20 bucks and you want to relax.

Definitely one of my favourite whiskeys to have straight, a little smoother than the Scotch whiskies and not as smokey.
If you get the chance go to the distillery in Dublin, GO!! It's awesome. On my recent trip to Britain & Europe I visited 5 distilleries and the Jamesons tour was far and away the best of them. When they ask for volunteers at the start, make a lot of noise and make sure you're one of them, you get an extra 5 samples  .

I've been drinking Jameson neat, on the rocks, or in manhattans for years now. It's a really versatile and well balanced whiskey. If you get a chance, try the 12 year, it's even smoother than the standard Jameson.

I had Jameson for the first time a couple of weeks ago, while I was in Israel.  I like!

I like Jim too, but I think it burns more than Jameson.

And I get paid this week and I will be getting the 12 year Jameson.

Wish I could say the same... ;)

Isn't Jim Beam a bourbon or summink? Whatever it is, it's not like Irish/Scotch whiskey.

I like The Black Douglas myself. Smoother than Johnny Walker. Not that I drink much. Which you can probably tell because I don't know what you call Jim Beam  :D

You will if you take shots after shots of it, just like drinking too much beer. General rule of thumb: 1 shot=1 beer.

In addition, some whiskeys/bourbons are more bitter than others. American sour mash kentucky bourbon (i.e. Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, etc.) is, in my experience, less tolerable than Canadian and Irish whiskeys/bourbons. I say get a bottle of Crown Royal to start - it's reasonably priced, and is a good mid range of whiskey that is smooth to drink on the rocks or neat (no ice), or as a shot here and there. It also mixes well with coke if you want to ease in that way (although I consider it a waste of a good whiskey ;) )

I was watching The Wire a few weeks ago, and Jamison seems to be a popular drink on that show.  So I figured I would try it for the first time.  Not bad.  The next thing I bought was Crown, a drink I like.  After drinking Jamison, Crown didn't taste quite as good.  So I went and got a bottle of Jamison to see if it was a fluke.

I promise you, it is no fluke.  Jameson and Coke is my drink of choice now

Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but good for those special occasions.

I just dropped 100.00 on a bottle of Crown Royal XR - gonna save it until my son turns 21 (in about 18 years), and then share it with him. :)

I'll try crown with ice I guess

That's usually how I have it - it makes for a nice sipping drink on a hot summer day.

To be honest i think Jameson is "okay". Not be best, but not even close the worsted.  Personally i love dimple, its really smooth and as a kick afterwards.

I'm actually moving into my new house this weekend and i've started stocking my bar cart as i do like a drink now and then.

Currently i got some Jim Beam (Bourbon), Black Douglas (Whisky), Bundaberg Red (Rum) and Jägermeister

I've also got some slivovitz for when i get a cold too (best damn thing to kill any type of bacteria inside of you)

and also need to get some good Sake too

Any other suggestions you guys might have?

You need a well vodka for mixers and a name brand for shots.  I like Stolichnaya as a fairly cheap vodka but still good for shots if chilled.  All vodka should be chilled, BTW.

You also need a good mixer gin, Gordon's is one I go with. Cheap but good with a dry vermouth in a martini.  Then there is the mixer tequila and shot tequila.  I go for Jose Cuervo for mixers and a nice Reposado for shots or sipping.

I'm all about having the right stuff when throwing a party and people want mixed drinks.  Here's my bar/gameroom.

Nice, all that it's missing is some black leather couches and a wall mounted plasma. ;)

Well, how about pink chairs and a 109" DLP?  This is on the other side of the wall.  Finished now, but I don't have any more recent photos.

My first place was a second story outdoor walk up above a liquor/convenience store literally and figurative "next to the tracks."

Various apartments and houses since then until this place.  I've 1400 sq/ft in the basement bar/theater/gameroom.  That was a LONG project to finish.

Agreed, that looks awesome. For some reason though, the room looks pretty small, like its a partition of a bigger room or something. Im just under 6'6 so it looks like its a little cramped, I dunno though. Seriously, Im jealous!  :applaud:

It's a basement area so the celling is only around 8' and the bump out on the theater celling and the bar celling is a soffit to cover all HVAC and water lines through the center and edge of the house.

The rooms are 15' wide and the theaters 22' long.  The bar/lounge area is 45' long and there is another 20' x 15' area on the other side of the theater back wall where I do guitar lessons.

Ah. Dont have the luxury of basements out here in California. Thats awesome though. Im currently turning my garage into something similar, Im just REALLY lazy and dont want to put drywall everywhere to hide the rafters. I kinda like the "garage" kinda look, especially since I have the arcade, an air hockey table, a console game area, a punching bag/weight bench, and an air hockey table. Also the washer/dryer/water heater doesnt help either  ;D, still cool though. Way to rock.

Ah. Dont have the luxury of basements out here in California.

Basements are pretty standard around here in N. Michigan and a great bonus for home buyers.

If it is unfinished it cannot be counted toward square footage of the home and can end up being quite the steal on the market, depending on layout.

Basements make me scared and jittery.  Nothing like going to pick up a game in Missouri and be pointed down the dark staircase into the windowless, cement room.
