Title: WTB: Joust chip or PCB
Post by: boogieman on August 07, 2010, 01:12:31 pm
Well, I got another project!  I bought a joust upright yesterday.  It powers up but gave me a bad ram 38 error, which from what I learned (through the magic of google) meant the chip in bank 3 chip 8 was being a bad boy.  I tried moving it around the board, cleaning sockets/chip and the error followed the chip around the board.  Supposedly this means its a bad chip.  So...

Does anyone have/can I buy a chip from a Joust PCB, bank 3 chip 8 (are they different or same data on each chip).  If no one has a chip, does anyone have a spare Joust PCB for sale?

Thanks!

There are a number of vendors for RAM chips in the wiki (I think that ArcadeComponents, BYOAC user Channelmaniac has them in stock and I have bought from him a number of times)i:

You may also want to change from 4116 RAM to 4164 RAM:

Or consider going with jrok's SYSFPGA Williams Multiboard.
