Just saw this:
RACER DEMO 0.1 - video game mashup (http://vimeo.com/9056286)
It's a simulation of the PSX game series "Wipeout" recreated via a physical track, wireless camera enabled RC Car, and modified arcade cabinet.
So who's going to build the next one here? (:

Looks awesome. The basic track design works well though I'd put wider profile wheels on and create a transparent curved basin at the bottom so the car could bank the sides without crashing, with a domed top to self-right the car if it rolls.

Looks like they're still working on it:
Racer Demo 0.2 - video game mashup (rough cut) (http://vimeo.com/13217587)
Lap scoring, heads up display...
I agree for the self-righting feature. However the design of the track is suppose to look Wipeout-ish, so curves wouldn't look right.

Pretty awesome!

Bonkers. I like how Europeans (excluding us in the UK) have all these big post-industrial spaces to further their ideas in. I've been all around Europe with work and there's so many amazing 'workspaces' available that haven't yet been turned into 'luxury' apartments. Meanwhile in England it's the August 6th, raining, and we're all wishing we could fit more than a couple of Colecovisions in our little gamerooms :badmood:

looks more like powerdrome, brilliant idea!
Hope they develop it to its full potential

As if our current arcade game projects don't take up enough space... now we get this idea implanted in our heads! :)

Makes you want to buy him a PS1. :lol

This is really cool. I wish I had the time and space for something like this. If he can solve the problem of requiring someone to "reset" the car when it crashes, it would be an ideal setup.
