Title: Silver tape on the front of VGA CRT tube?

What is this silver tape for?

ground path for static dissapation/ noise suppression.
i assume this to be "decased" and behind a bezel/glass ? - and not really needed....

Yes, being decased and will be housed behind glass with no regular direct contact to the screen
