Title: Where to connect the ground wire for a happ trackball.
Post by: justinjstark on August 01, 2010, 06:57:14 pm
I have a happ trackball and an optiwiz.  The trackball has a 6 pin connector which I have connected to the optiwiz.  But, there is also a big green wire coming form the trackball that says connect to earth ground.  Where is a good place to connect this?  I'm guessing I should not connect it to another ground on the optiwiz since it is such a large wire.  Any suggestions?

This comes up from time to time yet it doesn't yield a definitive answer.   :dunno

Some say that you don't need to attach it while others say to ground it to something like a PC case.  If you can attach it to something like that, I say do it.  It's a little bit of insurance that doesn't take that much work to put into place.  Better safe than sorry.

Here's a detailed thread with good info by 2600, CheffoJeffo (who I failed to give credit to the last time I linked to that thread.   :P ), and others of course.

I attach mine to one of the PSU mounting screws at the case.
