hi guys,
i recieved a mini pac today from ultimarc and it wont respond at all.
the board lights up with a solid green l.e.d ( that means its ok i think ) , and the pc recognises it as an ultimarc board.
but thats where it all ends. nothing else works after that . ive checked my wiring numerous times and it all looks fine.
out of the box these things are designed to work and are mapped with mame in mind , so why it wont work is beyond me.
ive checked it on both the mame cab and my main rig . both pc's recognise the board , but it just wont work at all.
its just pure frustration.
i wouldnt mind, my last minipac just died for no reason at all the last day ( monday ) , i only had it working for a total of 3 months while i was building my cab.
and now a new one doesnt want to work out of the box :banghead:
any suggestions welcome.
thanks,
dave.

maybe your wiring harness is wrong?
mine came out of the box in working condition last week. Try emailing Andy, he's quick to answer.

the harness is fine , it was working on monday with my original board . but what happened with that original board and why it became faulty i'll
never know . regardless , this replacement board does work , but i have a feeling im going to be told to re-flash the board by andy . i did email
him right after i posted here , just in case :) hehe .
but if its a case of a faultly board im never going to use a minipac ever again. instead , i will get a good board that people on the forums can reccomend to me.

Note that the Mini-PAC and the U-HID are not the same board. maybe this is the source of the problem.
I received your email and answered. But if you had a board fail before, we could have addressed that issue earlier. Maybe the original board was not in fact faulty? If it was we could have replaced it free of charge.

ive just replied to your mail there andy , thanks for that .
yes , the board is working . i have a feeling something either within the harness is bad , or i have a faulty connection somewhere.
but technically , the wiring to and from the board is set up perfectly , i.e - the ground goes to C.1 and the colour coded wire to N.O.3 on the switches.
so now its time to relax in the knowledge that all i need to do is go through the whole mess of wires and find the problem.
its going to feel like xmas , as thats all i ever seem to do at that time of year is check the wiring for the lights lol.
as for the cost factor, i dont mind paying for an extra board .
the original board i had was a u-hid branded one, and it was truly dead in the water as no led lit up on it at all .
as for that board , i shipped it off to where i bought it , and the main reason i purchased a new one from you is the fact
that i knew you'd have it shipped out to me way faster than the other guy ;D

just an update :
checked the wiring today and found that my ground wire was loose from the harness.
that would explain why the whole control panel would not work . so if anyone ever has the same problem where they plug in
a minipac and none of the buttons work at all , check the ground wire first ;)
i can now re-connect everything up and fire the cab into life ;D
double dragon here i come >:D
