I don't think it really qualifies as a true 'project', so I thought I'd post it here.
I recently bought a Kodak Zi8 camera, and have been making some videos, so I figured I'd document my first power up of my Dreamcast/PC adapter box on my New Astro City cabinet.
I built a project box that contains a Happ Universal Video Converter, a JAMMA fingerboard and molex connectors for controler input. The UVC gets power from the 5v and 12v off the JAMMA harness, and can output standard or medium resolution. The output of the UVC is fed to the JAMMA fingerboard, so it will display on the cabinet.
I have an audio amp although it's not a 12v car amp, so it needs to be plugged into an outlet. Not a big deal since the Dreamcast does as well.

That is a really nice setup!

Are you sure that it is a Happ UVC, not an Ultracade? http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=28005 (http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=28005)

You're absolutely right, it was made by Ultracade. I think Happ was the original retail outlet for them though.
I hooked up sound today! Gauntlet was mono and didn't sound too hot, but Under Defeat in stereo sounds pretty good!

Dreamcast and Neo Geo installed in cab. I wired the JAMMA mono output to a mini stereo plug, and the Dreamcast VGA box has mini stereo output. Now all I have to do is buy a 'Y' adapter cable to plug both in at the same time so whichever is running will run through the amp to the original speakers. The hacked Dreamcast controllers are in the back corner of the cab, behind the coin box.
That pretty much finishes this phase of construction. I bought a Japanese box set of House of the Dead 2 and a Dreamcast gun, but I'm doubtful if it will work going through the video converter. I also don't know how I'll go about running MAME on it.
