So I have been watching forever, and became a member a while back. Until now I have been battling differing Ideas for what to do for my first project.
After much thought and consideration I have come up with a compromise to get the go ahead from my wife.
My Idea is a Visual pinball and Arcade setup in one, my wife is a pinball fanatic and I grew up on arcade machines. I have excellent electronics skills, decent wood working/ metal skills and access to equipment.
Biggest problem right now is money like all projects and this is going to be a lot I'm guessing.
Please be-kind of my sketch it is rough and not to scale but came to me late at work one night and i quickly sketched it up ( I have not been able to get a good grasp on sketch-up yet as I have very little time right now).
Any way it is a little unorthodox and bizarre and I am sure some will hate it but I really wanted something different. So here it is... Thoughts?

Seems like a solid design at first I thought the arcade play screen was the back glass then I look closer and realized it was the playfield, the only concern with that would be it would get uncomfortable to be staring down at an angle like that for long sessions any way to make it so you could tilt the screen up as well as rotate it?

That would be cool, I would have to change my current thought for rotating the monitor to a small geared motor closer to the screen, and could use a screw drive to pull the screen up once rotated.
I thought when drawing it that playing pinball would be standing up and arcade style games I would have some stools, but I think I like your Idea better NeoFlynn. Thanks.
Also as far as starting games/credits since there is no good area for a coin acceptor I was thinking of a fake credit card reader that bumps a switch to advance credits on the front control panel area.
I saw someone on here do that and liked the Idea. I just don't know who did it to give credit too.
I also am thinking of making the top control panel removable and creating a clean no control top when not in arcade use for a nicer look when just sitting there.
No visible fasteners to hold the control panel I will have them from the bottom of the control panel area going up into the control panel.
Last planned thought for now, I also have a nice unused 3way car amp that I am planning to build in a solid 2.1 audio sytem into this thing.
A couple of 3 way 6.5 inch or 6X9 speakers in the back glass area? And a 8" sub in the electronics area is all I need.

Like I said all in all it sounds like a solid design, as for a coin acceptor if you are not worried about actuall coins you could just place a button on there somwhere like maybe under where the plunger would be on a normal pinball machine that wouldnt look to bad
