Title: Now THIS is a monitor! Wow, lookee what I got :) (w/ pics & video)

Picked this up today for $25 from the Minneapolis CL site:

http://www.audaud.com/audaud/NOV02/EQUIP/equip2NOV02.html (http://www.audaud.com/audaud/NOV02/EQUIP/equip2NOV02.html)

I hooked  it up via RGB to my HTPC and holy pixels, Batman!

1024x768 native and I can read every last letter on my windows desktop with razor sharp accuracy. I've never seen a CRT TV look like this before.

It's HUUUUUUUGE. (Like 34" wide!!) Can you say showcase cab?

I'll shoot some pics in the AM after I finish putting it through the HDTV paces. Imagine Ms Pacman on a 33" vertical!

Looks like a re-branded Monivision or something similar. Great find.

In Europe, Philips sold a 34 inch CRT with full-HD input and display a few years ago. Also cheap on the second hand market.

Nice score!  I've been looking for one of those 27" HDTV CRT's that a few manufacturers were making right before the LCD price-drop.  I would like to see how vector games look on your monitor.

Nice. The review says it's not a deep as most CRTs. Is that right?

I had a 32" Mitsubishi once, very nice tv. My dad ended up getting their 36" model right before  tubes went the way of the dinos.

Those things were HUGE!

Here's a shot of the monitor. I watched a few HDTV movies on it last night, and was very impressed. Even low resolutions are nice and crisp.

And a quick video:

MVI 1595 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Thk0Xno9OgI#)

Youtube's re-sampling brought down the clarity of the video a bit. This thing really is razor sharp.

Sorry about the crash -- turned off the lights and tripped over my daughter's sit-n-spin. I swear to God, we have toys everywhere.

Yeah, it's only 22" deep. And it has RGB inputs AND outputs. All kinds of possibilities. I'm trying to convince myself that I need to build an upright to use this for shooters.

Buck hunter, Area 51 on this monitor would be GREAT  :applaud:

With the proliferation of LCD, I'm guessing Tube monitors are really going to start getting cheap.

25$ is a fantastic deal though!

Mitsubishi AM-4201R

As far as I know the largest CRT ever produced.

It syncs to arcade resolutions!  I want one  :lol

Jack, does those huge things fit in any cab? at some point, bigger is just... too big. no?

you bet. I got 3 CRTs given to me since I started to build my cab. 1 I gave back to someone else in the hobby who needed it, 1 I will experiment with (never tried arcade monitors) and the other one has recently been installed in my cab.
