Post by: Jasonmm on July 20, 2010, 04:42:32 pm
Does anyone know what this stuff is called and where I could buy it in bulk , ie .. by the foot ?

RETAINER MARQUEE HAPP MAME tm ARCADE JAMMA NEW - http://cgi.ebay.com/RETAINER-MARQUEE-HAPP-MAME-tm-ARCADE-JAMMA-NEW_W0QQitemZ290409126559QQcategoryZ13718QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6982335450045455209 (http://cgi.ebay.com/RETAINER-MARQUEE-HAPP-MAME-tm-ARCADE-JAMMA-NEW_W0QQitemZ290409126559QQcategoryZ13718QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6982335450045455209)

I am making a 7ft by 4ft arcade marquee wall and thought it would look good between each marqeee , better than electrical tape for sure ...

Keep in mind that it's curved on the edges...  so it was really only meant to hold one marquee (using 2 pieces on the top and bottom); not 2 at the same time on either side using one piece.  If I were you I'd make something out of T-molding that's bigger than the standard 3/4" size.

Something like this maybe:

what I would do is go to a hardware store (big box) and get some right-angle aluminum stock. I got 8ft of it for less than $5 for my marquee retainer. I just primed it with some rustoleum flat black and it fit with my cabinet's motif. You can always paint it another color if you want.

if you are doing a mosaic of marquees and want to put retainers in-between you could always double this up and form a "T" shape, but that might be a lot of waste. I didnt check into it, but the stores may have T shaped aluminum stock, or you could use the metal framework that is used for suspended tile ceilings.

Or not... whatever... :P
