Title: RESOLVED: car/truck audio tech help needed
Post by: northerngames on July 20, 2010, 11:19:37 am
I have 2 12" kicker comps connected to a 600 watt amp and also ran through a voodoo 1.2 farad 24v surge capacitor.

The system worked fine until I changed out the old dead batterys with new 2 new battery's and now I have no bass the radio works and the speakers work and I can feel the 12's are getting regular radio power but nothing from the amp or capacitor so I think it is either the amp cap or both.

I may have just blown a fuse but I recently got the vehicle and dont know to much about the system part is just worked before lol.

does the cap need to be disharged and then charged or did I ruin it by switching the battery straight up?

Sounds like you may have disconnected the power for the sub amp when you switched batteries. There should be a fuse inline at the battery for the amp as well, check it too.

No need to discharge the cap either BTW

yeah I disconnected eveything and redid all the wiring ends and made sure they were all back on there tight I will check the fuse though becuase I got a nasty spark out of the positive that the fuse for the amp is on for that battery side.

got it.

it had reset my sub setting to zero on the radio and once I cranked it back up it was fine.
