I don't want any software to manage anything for me I don't want any software to create scan my computer for anything I don't want any kind of lists, folders and any crap other people need. All I want is drag and drop what "I" want. Point in case I'm trying to upload a movie to my ipod touch when I open my itouch there is a folder [movies]. When I drag and drop it shows me crossed out circle. So I dropped it to the folder Library/movies, now what? When I drag from there it gives me same crossed out circle, when I click with right mouse button hoping for some kind of sync option, there is nothing there. Now WTF I'm supposed to do! It should be easy, I don't have time looking for some kind of instructions. Yes, I said I don't have time for that! This should be a no brainer and I'm going insane. I want someone from apple here with me so I can bash their head with a hammer for not giving me my option that I'm used to with PCs. :badmood:

Heh. The zune is pretty much the same. That's why I sold mine shortly after buying it and why I'll never own an ipod unless I can hack it.
The good news is there are programs out there that let you bypass itunes. I'm not sure if they allow drag and drop but they definitely give you greater control over what you do with the ipod. I don't know any names but a google search will probably turn up something that will work for you.

When I installed iTunes, my boot time increased over 20 seconds. :-P
Then it loaded up a huge batch of blues music I downloaded for someone else.
Then I ran it through the washing machine. Twice.
Replaced the battery and screen. Works and charges fine, but I can't sync it up anymore.
30GB of blues music. :P
30gb's of 'washed' Howlin' Wolf, Screamin-Hootin Brownie Terry & Sonny McGhee and Sonny Boy Williamson!
Just doesnt sound the same!

To the OP, make sure the video is in a format that the Ipod can handle. If it's an AVI or something, you have to convert it first.
-
My GF has one of these Creative ZEN mediaplayers. She can simply drag and drop stuff onto it. For media files that it won't play natively you will need to use the sync software which it will convert it for you.
-
The problem you have is indeed probably because the video you want to put on is in a format the iPhone/iTouch/iPod doesn't support. You'll have to convert it or have iTunes convert it. A good tool for conversions is 'MediaCoder' or 'MediaCoder iPhone Edition'.
If you hate iTunes as much as I do, then you should give 'SharePod' a try. That's what I use to put stuff on my iPhone. You need to have iTunes installed because it uses some of its sys files, but you never have to fire up that mind numbing p.o.s. called iTunes again.
Good luck

Here's an article I read some time ago with some iTunes alternatives:
http://www.ilovefreesoftware.com/27/featured/8-free-alternatives-to-itunes-for-windows.html (http://www.ilovefreesoftware.com/27/featured/8-free-alternatives-to-itunes-for-windows.html)
I never tried any of the software, but it may help.

I really really wish Apple would release a 100% compatible touch screen version of iTunes with large icons and everything and the ability to queue songs.
-
Media Monkey - the only one you will ever need.

I took a quick look in the artwork forum over there and it doesn't look like a touch screen friendly program - lots of small fonts. Ideally, I'd want something that just showed nothing but about 20 album covers at a time (no folder trees or anything) and when you touched a cover you'd be brought to the list of songs (in a large font) and when you touched a song it would start playing. It would also need a search function and the ability for queuing.
EDIT: Kind of like freebox but I haven't found a skin I love for that yet.

+1
Although now, with my iPhone on the local wifi, I just control iTunes as I'm walking around...

Why touch-screen?
-
SharePod is very good (and free). Drag n' drop load, also allows you to get media OFF an iPod!

Why touch-screen?
For a touch screen jukebox!

No it's not. You can setup your zune software for manual sync mode. It shows every piece of media on your computer and you simply drag and drop albums/folders/ and indiviual files to a sync list. The ipod software doesn't easily let you do that.
I NEVER used the ipod software for my ipod. It's best to get a plugin for either wmp, windows explorer or winamp and drag and drop like you can natively with the zune software.
This is the main reason btw that I often go "meh" when people talk about how great their ipod touch or ipad are. Until I can do what I want with it no thank you.
