OK so I have a SmartStrip, and things just won't work right ... it's starting to really piss me off.
MY setup.
Master > PC
SLAVE
- Computer Speakers
- Betson CRT Monitor
Basically the problem is I cannot set the SmartStrip up in a way that it turns things on and also turns things off. Now mind you, I have tested this with other applications, but for this setup nothing is working right.
If I dial the adjustment down so the monitor will power off, then, the monitor will not power on (I waited about 5 min and got nothing). Likewise, if it's high-enough to turn the monitor on, then it will never shut the montor off.
Ok so, what the hell do I do? Who here has an arcade monitor and a smart strip and what was your experience? Should I try some form of relay (not even sure exactly what that would look like)?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi kronic24601,
What are you using as the control device...I assume it's the computer (ie. turning on computer
activates other peripherals)?
Breaker.

And is it a desktop or laptop? Laptops don't tend to work well as the trigger on a standard smart strip. You'd want to use the USB version instead.
The pot (adjustment) is sensitive too. It doesn't take much of a twist either way to have a profound impact on whether it turns on or off. Think "female" >:D

I'm using a PC computer, 650Watt power supply (that is the master)
I have tried turning the adjustment in a very small way, but they end up being no where near each other for the on vs the off.
To clarify if This angle = \ turns it off, I have to pretty much turn it up to this angle = / to turn it on.
In the middle doesn't really do either ...

I have a smart powerbar setup in a similar way;
PC powerswitch as master power button:
-JVC 27" CRT
-24" Flourescent Marquee light
-2x 120v 3" Fans
-PC 2.1 Sound system
all plugged in as secondary.
There is no 'sensitivity' dial/potentiometer on mine, however I do have to say that it works flawlessly. Upon powering on or off, the other devices usually follow suit within about 5 seconds of hitting the switch.
I also hacked off the 120v prongs on the end, and connected it to a CL 13 power socket, so that I can use a pc power cable to get power inside the case.
If its any help, I bought my powerbar from walmart, although the name escapes me.

Sounds like it is time to contact Bits Unlimited support (or whatever their name is). It's possible you have a bum strip.

Yeah, I have a Betson and a Smart Strip and it works fine. You may have ended up with one that's too sensitive or defective. Swapping it may do the trick. Where did you order it from? Do they have an exchange policy?

hmm ... I bought mine from Amazon, It might have been a re-seller though ... It's been a while since I bought it (bought it in preparation) ... so I'll have to see. I'm bummed I'm having this response, but I'm glad to here it's not the monitor.
Guess I'll try to return route.
Thanks guys!

I was having similar trouble with mine. Mine would eventually shut off after about an hr or so after the computer was shut down. It was strange though, if i put a lamp in the control outlet and turned the lamp switch on and off the strip would work right. With the computer in the control, I could shut the computer down, strip would stay on, then unplug the computer completely from the strip and it would still stay on for 15-30 mins.
I bought a different one from wal-mart to replace it with (think the brand is cyberpower) it dosent have the pot and has worked perfectly.

ya, same with me, other things (than the computer in the Master) will turn everything off. I contacted the company as they say to do so for instanced like this, but haven't heard back from them, I can always re-purpose it in something I know does work, and get a Walmart one if that works out.
Thanks!

Cyberpower has something like this?...at Walmart? I must have missed it.
