Kinda cool, but ... they have mostly the conversion crap from the mid to late 80's that killed arcades in the first place! ???

It is mostly stuff I wouldn't play. But even though they have only a small percentage of classics, that still quite a few since the list is pretty big. At least for around here :'(. I'll have to stop by if I get down that way.

1943, Galaga, Ms. Pacman, R-Type, BLACK TIGER!!!!, Arkanoid, Tempest, Mr Do, Burger Time, Frogger, Star Wars Trilogy
OMG Those games right there would be worth the trip for me!
Damn...talk about awesome...how I wish this was nearby me.
-
You have a LOT of games. And hardly enough room for them. There is a fair representation of 80s and 90s. It all might be more than you can chew. I hope it goes well.
-
Looks excellent! Wish it was close to me
Please post more videos, would love to see it evolving, and populated with players!
-
That's a HUGE venture! Best of luck -- I really want to see the classic arcade archetype revived -- my belief is that as we, the Gen-X'ers get to our 40's and 50's and begin the serious mid life crisis stage, we'll see a resurgence of these types of venues.
Only 6 hours from me -- I may have to make a pilgrimage...

+1
I'd love to drop $20 into that Road Blasters as well.
They open on my anniversary. If the Cubs were in town I could probably talk the wife into going. ;D

Nice, it looks awesome!

Aye :(
I could see a few of us in a place like this but the rest of the time it would be pretty quiet. I still think this type of business would be best served as part of another establishment (IE the real money maker). I can just see this being a burden from a maintenance standpoint and clientèle standpoint...not to sound like a pessimist because I would like nothing more than a place like this to succeed.

Just a bump as the grand opening is Saturday at 12:01am through Sunday night 12:00pm. Admission is $15 for as long as you stay. Games are on free play. There are console lan party rooms with 42 in LEDS also. I was there last night to shop out a Gorgar pinball and things are shaping up nicely.

Meany, I'm from the area and I'd love to be there for the grand opening, but I want to confirm the timing... there is nothing on the website that states what time they are opening the doors on Saturday, and they apparently have not set up an answering machine on their phone line, because the phone just keeps ringing. You say Saturday 12:01am through Sunday night 12:00pm. I'm pretty sure you reversed your AM's and PM's but I want to be sure... are they really opening at 12:01am on Saturday??? Or do you mean 12:01pm (Noon) on Saturday?
Thanks,

This looks like it would be a good time! :applaud: I live in WI right across the border and would love to try and make it down there.
I used to work at a family fun park for 4 years in high school with an arcade, go-karts, mini golf, etc... They used to have a decent amount of fun games and pinball machines, but when they moved the arcade to a bigger building, they got rid of most of them and got a ton of redemption games. I went there this summer and their building is 15,000 sqft with 100+ games. But of those games the only ones that aren't ticket/redemption games are 1 or 2 pins, DDR, a few racing games, maybe a few fighters, shooting games, and there was a pac-man/galaga they had, but was for sale. But that's the way things go at modern arcades, kids wanna spend 50$ of their parents money on rigged games to get a 2$ stuffed animal the rips apart after a day :dunno. So I hope places like this can keep business and grow, because, at least to me, spending a day playing enjoyable fun games and enjoying the time there is 1,000 times better than getting pissed at some ticket game and walking away with a mediocre prize.
ps
It seems most of the links on the are broken or are not working, at least for me.

I think it's great that the games span over such a large time period. Hopefully that will increase the amount of customers they get.

Here is a place in Pittsburgh that seems to have developed a good business model. They are sort of a Chuck E Cheese but without the show. It's not the best arcade but its a still some what reminiscent of old days at the mall.
Good luck with the Grand Opening

Are there any pics on the arcade? The site seems to have mostly dead links. Only the game list works here.

Did anyone go?
I’d almost suggest a BYOAC gathering there, but $15 seems like a lot of money. When I go to Dave & Buster’s I buy a $5 card and I always leave with credit still on my card. When I find a game I like at D&B I just stay at that game. With unlimited free play I'd be guessing all the games you want to play will have someone parked at them the whole time you're there.
If I have time I’ll get some guys together and go to support the arcade and to see what it’s really like. I’ll need to do it quickly, because I think this place is setting itself up to fail.

$5 does not go very far when the games are over $1 a play. That is an impressive feat.

Dave & Buster’s serve beer, and the few games they have are always busy, so that’s probably why I have skewed costs for playing games at an arcade.

I had the opportunity to stop yesterday with my 7yr son and we had a blast. I happen to be on vacation visiting my family who just happen to live about 10 minutes from the arcade. We arrived around 10:30am and had the whole place to ourselves until about 1:00pm. We stayed for something like 6 plus hours. We had a lot of fun and the staff were really friendy. I hope they do well and plan on going back. I highly suggest everyone visit this place if you get a chance.

Looks very busy with a nice atmosphere, congrats!
One small suggestion, take those non runners off the gaming floor and give a little elbow room with the space!
You will probably find with machines of that vintage that at any one time X will need attention, keep a maximum of X out in the back for repair.
Very cool you got the MK actors in there! Hope they signed the machine for you ;)

Honestly, is there anything more social than crowding around an arcade cab with some buddies? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love console/pc/online gaming but there is something special about being in front of one of these cabs with your buddies or even total complete strangers that online gaming just can't provide.
I really hope this place can make it work.

why in usa people dont sit down to play arcades comfortably?

Because that's how we've always done it. I have stools for my cabinet, but I rarely use them (depends on the game).

Galloping Ghost Arcade Walkthrough
Is something wrong with the audio on the arcade cabinets? All I can hear are people talking and Super Mario Bros. :(
The local arcade in town here does the same thing (barely audible volume). Totally ruins it for me.

I hated that when I went to Six Flags Over Texas last month. They had the sound way down on all the machines, except redemption.
When I go to Tornado Terry's, he's got the sound cranked on all of them. I thought his Marvel vs Capcom was going to fall apart from all the vibration!

Just like bowling or pinball, you have to move around and put "English" on the controls.

This is so true. You should see me playing Journey. :lol

I can't play certain games sitting down. Standing for Robotron is a must....and for some reason, I do better at Defender standing than sitting. :dunno
I'm going to check this place out this weekend, I wanna see some of those retro games working in action!
