Title: Miracle in the storm
Post by: danny_galaga on July 12, 2010, 06:31:53 am

Saw an amazing documentary a few weeks ago about a para glider pilot who got sucked up into a thunderstorm. I couldn't find the repeat at the time, but have now. You have 3 days to watch it!

Actually, yeah, sort of.   ;D  If there was a substantial amount of worthwhile content to which I was denied access I might have the motivation to figure this whole proxy business out.

They must decode the audio in the mp4's different in Australia.  Everyone talked funny.   ;D

Amazing story.   The altitude she was at is comparable to the altitudes that commercial airlines fly.   I can't believe she was able to survive the cold and low oxygen environment.

Pretty awesome.  The effects were sometimes distracting -- and I'm always a little bit distracted by media that is presented in documentary format, but actually relies on dramatizations.  Like you're watching, and it's cutting from interview to footage to interview to footage and then at one point you're like, "okay . . . wait . . . this is super fake."

Yeah, they were a bit tardy about separating dramatisations from actual footage. I've heard other people complain about that. But it certainly added to it. Like when her canopy collapses, my stomach dropped just a little  ;D
