Title: Am Pulling My Hair Out
Post by: nosecondcity on July 02, 2010, 02:22:44 pm
Ok, I am so near completing my cab but am ready to scream.

I had set up MaLa before I got my cp installed. I have a tree, with Mame, ZSnes, and Kega. Everything was set up perfectly and working fine using the keyboard.

I just finished my control panel using 2 U360s, an 32-input Ipac, and a Utrak. Now, I cannot get Mala to select a game from the list. My U360 (player 1) can scroll up and down. However, when I press the start button, nothing happens. I tried pressing every single button on the control panel, and still nothing. I cannot select a game.

I tried both Kega and Zsnes out of Mala and all the buttons work. I can start, use the sticks, and use all the buttons. In notepad also, I can see the results when I push a button. So...I know it's not a wiring problem.

I am at a complete loss and I've tried everything. I've read through other people's posts, but can't get an answer. In MaLa, I have under the Controller tab, then Encoder tab:

* Use keyboard encoder on the fly programming (checked)
For Encoder software: I have it pointed to the WinIPAC.exe
For Default Config: I have it pointed to the WinIPAC.ipc

Under Controller, Joystick tab:

I have: 1-use joystick (checked), 2-use 2nd joystick (checked) as set 1.

I don't know what else to try or do and would appreciate any help. I can't figure out what the problem is and I'm going nuts about it. Thanks in advance.

You'll have to re-do your controller settings.

In the options config dialog, go to the controller tab, go to the Joystick/GamePad subtab.   You will see a dropdown for "joystick id" - You can verify which one is which by using the "Check" sub-sub tab, changing joystick id and seeing the results when you move the stick.

Use this info to apply the correct mappings in the "Basic" sub-sub tab, be sure to select the correct joystick id before changing the other dropdowns - this is what associates a particular joystick to an action.

Things should start making sense and working properly then.

I recently went through this after installing a U360 in my cabinet that was completed a year ago.   I replaced a traditional joystick that was run into my LED Wiz.   The LED Wiz still handles my buttons.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it out and see if that solves it.
