Hey guys I really want to build a bartop cab but I had a couple questions. First off, do you think I think I should use a CRT monitor? I think it would work great because they're very cheap and plugs right into the pc running mame. Are there any good plans for a crt bartop? (I'm not very good and designing plans would be great, I could definately alter them slightly though. Also do you think I should go with a 2 player set up, because it might be kind of squished I was thinking either like 2 joystick and 4 buttons per stick or just one joystick and about six buttons for mortal kombat and the like buy then you ouldn't go head to headd :dizzy:
Thanks for your help guys!

I've made a CRT bartop before, basically a mini Pacman. It was very heavy, due to the weight of the CRT. I don't have any plans though, I just kinda winged it.

Just found a free arcade cab on Craigslist, I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow and just try to do a conversion. I don't know anything about the cab except what's in this pic and that it's free

Really weird picture I can't even tell if it's got a monitor or any controls on the cp :dizzy:

Thats a Die Hard. from that pic its missing the monitor and the mounting cage. It has the coin slots on the top of the control panel, and a standard 8way 3 button layout for each player with plenty of room to add a second row. Without the monitor and floor plate attached it is really light and easy to move. the whole cab is made out of vinyl. the hardest part is going to be mounting a crt.
If you go with an lcd you can just pick up a flexible lcd mounting arm and attach it to the top of the monitor area underneath the marquee area.
