So i picked up a new coin door today. A Bally Williams pinball door i am told. Anyway it came standard with US Quarter mechs, Imonex branded. I want to replace them with Australian $1 and 20c mechs, but dont know what will fit. (and the place where i bought didnt sell mechs, WTF)
So can i just buy some happ or some cheap non branded mechs and drop them straignt in or will only the imonex ones fit?
The door has a latch thing that swings over a tab on the mech to hold it in place.
i'm kind of new to the coin door scene. Its soo exciting

in theory, any coin mech should fit in the brackets. Its supposed to be standard.
I don't know for australia coins, however. You guys have everything upside-down :laugh2:

Coin mechs have a pretty much standard formfactor, so you can just buy suitable ones from any distributor. You can also get devices called "coin comparators" that will take any coin you provide as a reference, but these are a little more complicated.
I don't know how close a AUD coin is to a US quarter, but those Imonex mechs can be adjusted to take coins slightly larger (while still accepting down to quarter size) if you don't care much about selectivity. Just loosen the screw that holds the little plastic wedge up by the top entry area, slide it back to make it larger, then tighten again. It will accept anything from the range you set with that adjustment (large end) to the design coin (small end), in this case a US quarter.

That door meets modern standards. Any 3.5" by 4" coin mech should fit.

Bought one of those doors myself, just wondering what sort of mech you ended up using? Been trying to find some used 20c ones but had no luck. May just end up getting a big bag of quarters. ;)

i still havn't got any mechs yet, as im still building my cab. So this is probably the last thing i will get after everything else is finished. Occasionally ive seen some .20 mechs come up on ebay. Im also gonna try calling around some local spare parts places if i can find any. Cause there must be a sh-it load of old .20 mechs lying around that were replaced with $1 and $2 during the 90's.
My last resort is to get some of happ: http://happcontrols.com/coindoors/42303900.htm (http://happcontrols.com/coindoors/42303900.htm)
but that will be expensive with the shipping

Checked out the Happ ones myself, bit rich I reckon. Messed up my times and missed out on some on Ebay this week. $5.50 each they went for. Bugga!
