My cabinet is nearly finished and in a playable state. It's designed around a ViewSonic P810 21" CRT monitor. Last night I started mame and could see the interface menu, I chose a game and the monitor made a click and flashed as it changed the resolution (this usually happens anyway) but then all that was visible was a single vertical line 1 pixel wide in the center of the screen. I've left it off most of the day and it's still on the fritz. My cabinet is pretty open so i don't think it's related to overheating.
I'm wondering if any of you more experienced folks might know how to approach fixing this, if that's possible. I'm a recent electrical engineering grad so I'm comfortable testing / debugging a bit if someone knows where to start...
Thanks guys

if it is displaying a thin vert line ( top to bottom ) there is a problem in the Hsweep .
this is likely a computer type monitor and as such , they do have seperate supplies for HV and Hdeflection.
first step will be a visual inspection of the pcb . there will likely be a cold solder joint in deflection return, and
may be obvious with carbon tracks from arcing . clean and resolder , repair traces if needed
with any luck , there will be nothing further amiss....
