Title: Sorting game list MAMEWAH
Post by: tagnetti on August 03, 2003, 12:53:16 am
Quick question. I know how to create a custom game list, but I have 2 control panels. 1 with 4way,spinner,trackball and the other 2 eightways.
You can filter by control type after creating a custom list but not on the original one. Is there any way to have it pull from the whole set of roms or do you have to add a game at a time and then filter?

Thanks

They way I do it you just start out with a blank list and then when you filter the options it adds all the games that fit the peremiters automatically. :)

Hmm. That's odd because that is exactly what I'm doing. It says generating custom list and nothing happens. Perhaps I'm missing a file it's supposed to reference?

Do you have Catver.ini?

I did not. So I downloaded the file and dropped it in the mame directory and mamewah. Pointed to the mamewah path and still does the same thing. Any thoughts> I am running Mame 0.67 and the newest mamewah.

Thanks

I don't fully understand the question...do I take it that you have managed to make one custom list, but you are struggling with the 2nd one?

Just select a different custom list, and then 'Generate Custom List using Filters'.  When the filter is applied the list will automatically be made from all the games.

Make sure you point to the CatVer location in MAMEWAH, and that you have refreshed the main list since doing this.

Let us know how it goes...

You can use the General/Color/Sound Status filters to get rid of (many) games that don't work 100% correctly...

There will still be some games with incomplete emulation, & bad dumps tho...

Thanks alot and thanks for the work you are doing on this program. It's appreciated.

Do you know if there is a way to have the actual control input type actually point to a image file based on input  type.

Birdtales and I were discussing that this morning and it would be a great addition, especially with kids so they know what to use.

Thanks again

Well the controls.dat project was intended to hold the actual correct controllers, so this feature would be great :)  Unfortunately, this project has halted (for the moment at least).

The way the mame -listinfo input type is done, it is still unclear (to the inexpereienced) for many games which controller to use.  For that reason I won't be adding this feature in the near future - but if I think it is useful once my cabinet is built who knows...
