Title: Is this Midway Nba Jam control panel to darn big?

I want to build my first mame cab. I also don't want to re-invent the wheel so I bought a basket case arcade machine. This nba machine is a monster and takes up a lot of room. I thought I would post up and see what all of you guys think about this 4 player beast and that massive control panel.

I think this is the same cab as a mk2 but the mk2's came with a smaller drawer for the cp. So what do you guys think could this UR turn out to be a good conversion to start with?

I do have a backup Atari Pit-Fighter UR but it doesn't look no where as bad arse as this one.

The panel I have on my NBA Jam (same cab, including the off-center screw in the middle of the speakers) is a bit over 34". It's a two-player setup, with a trackball and a spinner next to each other in the center of the layout.

Since the bottom of your control panel is probably 26.5", you could always cut a new top. I like a little bit of overhang, so I'd go about 28" or 29".

BTW, I love the angle of the monitor on this cab. It leans back enough to play Golden Tee without pounding glass on every shot, but not so far that it obviates playing other games while sitting on a stool.

you can always pick up an MK, MKII ,MK3, UMK3, MK4, or WWF WerestleMania control panel and replace the one on there, its just 4 bolts. You looking to unload the PCB? I'd love to pick up a hangtime to toss in my MKII cab

Thanks for asking but the cab was stripped of the pcb and wire harness. So I am gonna go the new jamma harness / jpac route. I have a two spare fatal1ty motherboards 1 is a ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE the other is the ABIT FATAL1TY AN9 32X. I think both would make a nice mame setup with hyperspin.

I have also run out of room at my house so I am in the process of setting up my machines with as many games as possible. A mame machine will get played more im sure than say my dedi centipede.

Space is always an issue...

Thanks for asking and for the info on the control panels guys.
