Alright, the truth is I have to right a report and need this forums expert help.
The question is:
What are the likely reasons certain game types are more popluar for PC than consoles and vise versa.
The game genres in question are:
ACTION - top 10 games are most popluar on PC
ADVENTURE - top 10 games most popluar on PS2
DRIVING - top 10 games most popluar on PS2
PUZZLE - top 10 games most popluar on Game Cube
ROLE PLAY - top 10 games most popluar on PC
SIMULATION - top 10 games most popluar on PC
SPORTS - top 10 games most popluar on Xbox and PS2 (none for PC)
STRATEGY - top 10 games most popluar on PC
Any help would be appreciated!
thanks,
G

Where are you getting your statistics? Where are the 'top 10' lists?
I would say to just use some common sense reasoning - you have to think of the nature of each game. Example - sports: mostly played with friends, and local multiplayer is easiest with a console (vs. a PC lan). And the best sports games/male demographic are on xbox and ps2.
Some game types just need a keyboard and mouse to play well (action, RPGs, strategy, etc). Puzzle - gamecube, cutesy system for kiddies/girls (puzzle lovers).
I don't know where you'd find references to back that up, as it's just my opinion but maybe when you write ;) your report you won't need them.

Ah,
Thanks for the reply! I got my stats from www.gamespot.com. I made a graph from their list of top 10 games in each category and it came out like that.
thanks,

RPGs, FPSs, and MMOGs strategy and simulations work best on PC because of the ability to store save info on the hard drive (I know the X-Box can do this and the PS2 will, but by and large its reserved for PCs.).
FPSs are more popular on PC because we've been using the mouse+keyboard for play since the dawn of time. People who are used to that control scheme have a hard time adjusting to the d-pad and stick of a console.
Conversely, sports games are easier to control using a gamepad, so they tend to be more popular on Consoles. Fighting games would also fall into this category for me (easier to play on console, not sports)
Driving on PS2, I would guess stems mainly form Gran Turismo, and the third party wheel/pedal markey that has cropped up around it.
Puzzle games, well, Nintendo tends to put out more puzzle games than anyone else, due to their kid-friendly, non-violent game stance.
