Title: monitor board for WG 25"
Post by: JayTea on August 02, 2003, 12:09:18 pm
I have a WG 25" tube and chassis, but it doesn't have a monitor board.  Anyone have one laying around, or have an alternative solution?  Thanks.

Do you mean just the neckboard?  You may be able to get it directly from Wells-Gardner, or perhaps drop a message on RGVAC with the model number of your monitor.

BTW - if you find the neckboard is too expensive (W-G carries them for about $65), you might consider getting a whole new chassis from 8liners.

Excuse my stupidity, but what is the difference between using this, and a card with TV out?

Why would a person take all the energy to modify a TV, when the CRT/resolution stays the same? is there an actual difference?

There's a huge difference between TV out (composite) and a video card such as ArcadeVGA and the use of a real arcade monitor.  Without going into refresh rates and all of that, the picture is just better, and authentic.  S-Video is the next best thing, in my opinion.  Some others on the board can go into more detail if you do some searching for older posts.
