I'm doing a modest restore of an NBA Jam and have run into an issue. I bought all new buttons for the CP but the P1-P4 buttons I bought are too long. There is a metal bar under the CP that the Happ Competitions hit when I try to close the CP.
I need to find something that will fit in a standard 1-1/8" hole (I don't want to redrill) and is 2" or less long. Preferably closer to 1-3/4" in length. I've attached a picture of the button I removed for reference. I've not been able to find anything like it on the web and am hoping someone with more experience will recognize the model. At this point I don't care if the buttons have the P1-P4 symbols on it. Four white buttons that fit in the hole would make my day!

scroll down towards the bottom of that page, there are some yenox brand buttons that are shorter than happ buttons. i can't vouch for their quality, but for player buttons, it shouldnt really matter.

These two buttons are pretty short (can be ordered from the Akihabara Shop (http://www.akihabarashop.jp/index.php?cPath=106&osCsid=fcee2237aeca2701c0ab3611e73cceea)).
Seimitsu - PS15 (snap in)

the sanwa and seimitsu buttons are very short, they are designed to be mounted in a metal panel..they can be mounted in wood panels although it is a little more challenging. also, they look and feel very different from standard happ buttons

I think I might have some buttons like that one. I'll take a look when I get home from work and let you know.

I've used these yenox translucents buttons from LL before a friend but changed them over to microswitches like cherry and "e-switch". I think this will be your best bet and since it is only start buttons won't really matter.

Yeah but has anyone ordered from akihabarashop lately and been pleased with the service? They do have quite a nice catalog of items but i hear stories about ordering and then them taking months to deliver with no communication... I was gonna order from them but decided on lizardlick due to their reputation

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I should have mentioned in my OP that it is a metal CP with a plexi overlay. That being said I think buttons with a screw underneath would work best.
Those Yenox buttons look like they would do the trick.
divemaster - do you have more info on the shorter Happ buttons? I found some on Happ's site but they were not short enough. I need to place an order from you soon anyway.
