Someone in my area is selling two near-perfect condition Sega cockpit, both in great working order.
One is After Burner, the other is G-Loc.
Which one would you buy ?
After Burner is a classic (and the cockpit is nicer, more vintage looking, than G-Loc), but from what I read on the net G-Loc is a better game.

I hate Afterburner, kinda crap although the full cab was very cool
G-loc gets my vote :dunno

I have always like Afterburner a lot...

I actually liked After Burner better. G-Loc was more advanced graphically, but the action grinds to a halt after each level and I prefer the frantic game play of the former.
-
Yeah Smeghead, the Afterburner cab is way cooler than the smaller, rocket-shape G-Loc.
WhereEaglesDare, do you prefer Afterburner to G-Loc ?
DaveMMR, I've never played G-Loc, but the seller told me there's more replay value than Afterburner.
I guess it all depends on what you like in a game...
Isn't Afterburner too repetitive ?
G-Loc is also a "cockpit view" game while in Afterburner you see the whole plane.
The cockpit view type should be more immersive, right?
But in the other hand, I remember playing Afterburner, and liking it a lot (20 years ago...)

both

I can't buy both pinballwizard79 !
He will sell one of the two cabs (he's nice enough to let me choose), but he wants to keep the other one...

Get a 360 and build an After Burner Climax cab. :3

Never heard of GLoc before yesterday. I know that if I could have an Afterburner cab and I could afford it, I would get it home by whatever means available as soon as possible, may have to throw my furniture out, but who cares, it's an afterburner cab.
I should boot up GLoc on my cabinet and see what it is like.

Yes, it's 1st person and more realistic (but still not really). The stages are time attack and stop after shooting a required amount of enemies. The "replay value" comes in being able to choose a difficulty setting, which also changes how many stages you need to complete in addition to the enemies' difficulty.
Maybe see if you can fire the game up in MAME and see if you like it? Although, the same genre, AB & GLOC are two very different games. For me, G-LOC was a disappointing sequel that was too "start-and-stop" without the adrenaline rush. Others actually like it better. You want to find out where you stand before making that purchase.
But here's another question: The controls are more or less similar (IIRC). Can you convert an AB to a G-LOC and vice-versa? It would make you decision easier.

The AB cab is HUGE and heavy. Of course the G-loc is also heavy, but would be more maneuverable than the AB. With that being said, I would personally prefer the AB. I've played both and I like the AB better.
