I am not sure how many people know about this, or how long this deal will last, but you can get 10 White 5mm LEDs that are super bright at 14000mcd for only $1.53 with FREE shipping. They offer the following:

Ya, leds from china are pretty cheap.  You can find them even cheaper on Ebay though.

Also remember that mcd ratings mean very little.  A more important thing to look at is the ma rating, which puts it at pretty much the same output as any standard "superbright". 

The difference, however, is that these will have a very narrow view cone, a spec which is conspicuously missing ;)
