I am currently running my EMUs through my 36" Widescreen HDTV and i was wondering what type of res looks good for EMUs? I am using s-video. When i orginally plugged in, the res for the video card was outputting 1024x768, but that is way too tiny a font to read on the TV. I downed to 800x600 and that is ok (thinking of changing the MameWah Font Size). Although with Mame.ini resolution = auto some games don't play (specifically older vertial games, they are only half on the screen). By setting the games to a specific res of 640x480 the games correct themselves. Should i run everything at 640x480? Will this make newer games like Motral Kombat and Marvel Vs Capcom look like crap? Or should i just manually edit ini files for certain games?
Thanks for the help.

Actually, most games use a resolution LOWER than 640x480 natively. Common resolutions for games are 256x224, 320x240, and some even lower. Even Marvel vs Capcom I think uses 384x224.
You could use 640x480, or you can try even lower.
