Title: Gotta Fore... Mostly...
Post by: FrizzleFried on May 29, 2010, 11:43:18 am
I picked this up locally... it's an official Golden Tee "Home Version".  It's not the crappy little 13" Golden Tee Caberet model you've seen,  but rather a Golden Tee Fore 2005 kit installed in a 3rd party cab that is made to look similar to the original GT cabs... but without a coin door and set to freeplay.   I could actually add a coin door and mechs if I wanted to as the boardset is an regular ole GT Fore 2005 kit....it even has the phone jack, splitter, etc.

The power supply was dead and the monitor needs some help.  It's a WG D9200 and I have a cap kit on the way... which hopefully rectifies the issues...

Here she is:

The cab itself is in about the best condition I've ever bought.

Here is some photos of the monitor:

...she's in awesome shape.  Now to figure out the cheapest route to upgrade to a Fore! Complete...

Man this thread has generated a ton of activity...

Anyway,  I just ordered a Golden Tee Fore! Complete PCB kit... so I'll be rollin' with all 29 "Fore!" courses in no time.  Anyone interested in a 2005 Red PCB kit?

I hit your other thread on KLOV... Can you post about how the upgrade goes? Its one of those things I've been putting off. Wasn't thrilled about letting the upgrade dude do it, since he seems like a flake.

With 29 courses, you shouldn't get bored with it too quickly.

I managed to acquire a Silver Strike 2007 kit WITH an IT approved switcher!  It should arrive tomorrow.  With a push of a button I will be able to go from Golden Tee Complete to Silver Strike Bowling... nice!   This should supplant World Class Bowling as the most popular "drinking game" in the gameroom.

Silver Strike is an awesome drinking game.  Even my wife liked playing it when we found one in a bar in Texas.

Yes it is!  ;)

FedEx came through and showed up a day early.  I got the kit installed last night (well,  I still have some work to clean up the mess but I digress...

The kit came without the housings for the lighten buttons to change from game to game... though I am considering just using standard HAPP micro switch buttons... the lighted "square  8-liners" buttons seem so... gaudy.

The money shot...

The top marquee box I had sitting around and figured I'd use.  I may paint it white though.

Nice, I'd love to have one of those.  Where did you wire up your switch to toggle the games?

There are two buttons... and I wired them under the corners of each side of the control panel.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2005, but at $450 for the kit, I have seen the completes go for 650-750 on eBay think I will sell mine for $500 and be into a complete for a couple hundred. Then look to do the Silver Strike switch. Is there a certain Silver Strike kit to look for when doing the switching thing?
