it's actually simpler than everyone thinks. piping RGB directly to a tv is easier than messing with adapters and custom video modes.
From a technical and economical standpoint, it makes much more sense to pump RGB directly into the CRT electron guns, instead of implementing loads of complex and expensive circuitry to encode RGB video into a 50 year old format only to devote similar circuitry in order to decode it back to separate RGB, a few inches of wire away. It’s utterly pointless, to say the least.
sigh...

I have thought about this before, and after reading that tutorial there is now way in hell I am trying it out.
If you really want RGB video there are easier ways of doing it. The most basic one is to look for an RGB monitor like a Sony PVM or equivalent, or an older PC monitor like a Commodore 1080s or Mitsubishi Diamondscan that supports 15khz video.
OR
you can just buy a JROK RGB > Component video converter or one of the many RGB>YCBCR converter boxes out there and have an image that is 99% identical to the SCART one.
Modding a TV just seems like too much work. But mucho respect to the guy for pulling it off. He was probably well aware of the options I listed above but simply couldn't source an RGB tv due to his location.

if i were in usa or canada and looking for rgb tvs i would aks someone from here to fill the gaps of a sea container . there are thousends of rgb tvs with scart thrown away ever day , in my town with pop of 400 k its about 4 full seacontainers of tvs and pc screens every week. most of em in working conditon. i dumped about maybe 4o tvs with scart or vga input for future arcade monitor replacements , but wont bring in anymore , even if they are like brandnew. u can get em practically for free , but i usually pay 1-3 euro if its from ebay or some local advertise to make it less painful for the seller. some of the 5-10 year old tvs were 1-2 k german marks or euros when purchased.
