Ok, I'm looking to re-do my Mame Arcade machine.
What is the specs that you guys are using to run the roms efficiently?
Right now I'm running a Athlon 3200+ with 1.5 megs of ram. Running GameEx and an AGP of V2 of ATI 9200 ArcadeVGA with a 25" Arcade monitor.
I can't stand the screen tearing anymore so...
I turn on Triple buffering and the tearing goes away, but the sound stutters(on games like MK or NBA Jam etc..). I turn T-Buffering off, and the sound is fine but the tearing is back......Obviously my bottleneck is the CPU and maybe the Graphics card also.
Soooooo I have ordered the Newest ArcadeVGA 3000 with PCIe. So hence I was wondering what YOU guys "computer spec wise" are running to be able to enable T-buffering and to eliminate sound stuttering.
I have looked via the search, but most of those specs are older posts and am looking for specs that are "in the now" so to speak. Any help would be great! Thanks!
Let me know the specs and what OS you are running. Also Is it best to run Win7-64bit and the 64bit version of Mame? Any benifits? or Just stick with the tried and true Windows XP? with Mame 32bit version?

try lowering your samplerate to 22 instead of 44. Usually that will help with sound not stuttering.

I think that I have tried that, and it would still stutter on more demanding games. But something I will go back and check nonetheless.
With the views so far to this thread, no body is running a mame arcade machine??? Ok I kid, but anyone have any specs and preffered OS's to share? I'd rather do this once and not have to go back and forth. Anything would be great! Thanks!

Bitchen, Thanks for the replys!
I have a Intelcore2duo 7300 kicking around and with my ArcadeVGA 3000 on it's way. So I'm hoping/thinking that should be enough.
But it looks like maybe I'm wasting my time with GameEX frontend?
Atomic or Advancemame seem to be the way to go by the looks of your replys.
How much of a pain in the ass are they to set up? Again, thanks for the answers so far!!

Have you tried CabMAME? It has a sound hack to make the sound stay synced with the video when triple buffer is on. Sometimes it has to speed or slow the sound to do this. I find this better than the sound chopping and it gets rid of most of the tearing.
