Title: Monitor problem with Lethal Enforcers (K7000)
Post by: bobbylee on May 25, 2010, 11:28:39 pm
I'm having multiple problems with my monitor, first the picture was really dark I looked really closely at the board and noticed that the trimmer pots on the remote board were cracked, so I replaced them and the picture brightened up, so problem one fixed.

Next problem is now that I have the brightness up there is a big circle that stays on the screen and seems to reverse the colors that are in it, for example if the screen is all red the circle will be green, I took a magnet over the circle to see if it just needed to be degaussed and it does correct the colors in it, but as soon as you take the magnet away it goes right back to the opposite colors. Does this just sound like I need to degauss it properly? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

You can't use a stationary magnet.  You need to use a degaussing coil, or something that will provide an oscillating magnetic field, such as a CORDED drill or a soldering GUN (not iron).

Don't even put the permanent magnet close to the CRT it will make the problem worse.
