Title: HDMI capabilities

I own a sony vaio and connect it to a second monitor with a vga cable, and rather than duplicating the vaio's display i extend the displays for 2 different images. My vaio has an hdmi port and I am considering buying an hdmi cable and I'm wondering if that cable will allow me to extend the display or will just let me duplicate the display on my computer.

Most likely you will not be able to extend the display again (ie triple monitor setup) as well as the  but it pretty much depends on what GPU you have in your Vaio.
