Title: Help on safe shutdown in Mala
Post by: badgerjohn on May 19, 2010, 02:15:53 pm
Hi all! Coming to an end of my first ever MAME build... Cabinet nearly done and after MaLa taking over my life I'm almost there with that too!

I'm planning on setting it up to shell using the article on here somewhere (have the link at home) and I'm wondering how to shut down the cabinet safely whilst also maintaining the feel of Windows being hidden.

Haven't really found anything too concrete suggestion-wise and wondered if you helpful bunch can give me some ideas on how you shut down your MaLa cabs?

For those that have helped me so far during my project and might be reading, thanks again!

Right, long rambling post over! I'm off now to post on another section my question about paint!

Mala has the ability to shut down your pc directly.  In options go to the "GUI" tab and then the "Mala Exit" sub tab.  click on the drop down in the "Exit Action" section ("Quit" is default).  Change it to "Shut down" or "Standby" which ever is your preference.

I have a shelled Win XP setup with Mala and you never see any signs of windows.  ;D

Thanks very much! I did see this option but wanted to check it didn't show any windows signs that it was shutting down!!!

I suppose I should have not been so lazy and just tried it!

I just have Windows XP Pro setup to shut down when I press the power button on the PC case.  I have another button next to my coin door, and it's wired in parallel to the PC case button.  Push once to turn on.  Push once to turn off, from within MAME or MaLa or Windows.  Windows does a fast & clean shutdown.

Thanks,
