Title: 1xxx-in-1 Help Needed!! ( Can't boot to game screen)
Post by: Larrabee on May 17, 2010, 03:03:38 pm
I just got the board today.

Mounted the motherboard and power supply.

Hooked up the jamma wires, VGA connector, and power.

It boots but after a minute I have a blank screen.

here are some pictures and a video. Any ideas?

Can't see much in your video.   Did you go thru the setup of your board by switching bit 4 to setup from game then setup your video by pushing the button as per the manual.

So to recap, I have:
1. Mounted the board to my cabinet
2. Connected my VGA cable from my monitor to the board
3. Connected the Jamma connector to board
4. Connected the ATX power Supply to the board
5. I then turned on the power for the Jamma
6. Turned on power to ATX Power supply

I saw the windows 200 boot up screen then nothing.

I tried turning on switch 4 to get into setup, but I only get a blank screen.

I think you have to set your video to the proper monitor by pressing a button on your board multiple times until the video shows up.   The manual has the sequence.

I connected the other board, still nothing when I hit the video button a few times to try and cycle through the video inputs. I will post another video in a minute or so.

Thank you so much for helping me with this!

The fan on the CPU does turn on. And the board lights up.

Hopefully someone who has one of these boards can comment.    It sounds like it is not booting properly and if you cannot select a working video maybe it is fubar.

can we just hook this up to a computer monitor and see if something is actually booting instead of relying on the monitor in the cab.

i would throw a keyboard on the computer and try to enter the BOIS setup. see if the board is posting. likely they have no speaker attached to the mobo, so you would never know.

if you could find the header for a speaker i'd check to see if your getting any POST beep. You may have a ram stick that has worked loose or something...

It is hooked up to a VGA monitor.

Now when I boot it just gets to what seems to be the board screen which says:

"Verifying DMI Pool Data....

To Start System Genius program, press F10"

Then the blank, black screen.

Hooked up a USB Keyboard but hitting F10 isn't getting me into the genius program.

DMI or Desktop Management Interface is a layer between system components and the software that manages them. The System Management BIOS is an extension of the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) that formulates and delivers this information to the operating system. The pool data is the information. In short, when the BIOS is "Verifying DMI pool data" it is verifying the table of data it sends to the operating system (Windows, etc.). If it isn't sucessful, it should return an error. Wait a reasonable period of time for it to finish. It may make take some time or it may be stuck.

1 - what about DEL or f2... (common bios entering keys) get into the bios try and enable a feature called enable "Reset Configuration Data" (may be "Force Update ESCD" in some CMOS Setuups) in the motherboard CMOS Setup PNP/PCI configuration. (Rebooting will automatically disable it after it has done its thing.)

2 - the CMOS my have gotten corrupted, clear it.

3 - some piece of hardware has come loose, be sure everything is plugged in, in fact.... if it's plugged in - unplug it and plug it back in again.

Sounds like it could be the power supply for the monitor, its kicking in for a few seconds then out again... Try another monitor.

Not the monitor, hooking up a dreamcast works perfectly. It is looking more and more like a drive issue.

OK so I used a different keyboard and got into the ghost program which rewrote the main partition. Booting with dip switch 1 still shows nothing. I did see the windows 2000 chinese stuff again.

Still no go with dip switch 1 or 4 (service). Video switch button did not have an effect either.

You might find some useful info in the 1xxx in 1 forum.   Seem to be alot of people who are modding the boards and have alot of info.
