I just updated to 0138 and got a current rom set and now 1943, dkong, and pacman wont run, ive tried only a handful and most seem to be running fine, i may even go out to say it is the vertical games that arent running right, any ideas or suggestions?
-
okay just confirmed. no vertical games work... what am I doing wrong?
I am using GameEx as a frontend.

It's on your end.... I just tried all of those games you mentioned with 138 and they run fine.
9 times out of 10 it's always the front-end. Run them from the command line and see how they do.

Found this in the GameEx FAQ
Q: I'm using a recent version of MAME (.106 or newer), I'm a registered user and I've read all the other suggestions but games do not run it just returns to GameEx. On closer inspection it appears that only vertical games do not run such as Pac Man.
A: You can fix this by turning off the "Use Bezel" option under "Basic MAME Settings" in the configuration application.
seems it was GameEx.

That's odd. I'm using .136 in GameEx with bezels turned on and DK, PacMan, etc run just fine. I had thought that FAQ entry was old and it worked fine now. I really like the bezel option for games like Galaxian where it's hard to tell where the playing field ends on a 4:3 screen.
